DJ Stacy “HOTWAXX” Hale

The Godmother of House Music, the name “Hotwaxx” has been deeply embedded in Detroit’s dance scene since 1989. But make no mistake, she is international and has performed in England, Spain, Germany, and Canada, and across the USA.  “Hotwaxx” has performed at major metro events such as DEMF, Movement, & African World Festivals in addition to rocking the airwaves at WLBS, WHYT, WGPR, and WJLB. She currently performs with her own group, Nyumba Muziki, and is the Assistant Music Director and DJ for the Black Women Rock Band, as well as instructing with Spin, Inc., a non-profit program teaching the next generation of electronic musicians. A documentary currently in the works, “Girls Gone Vinyl”, being produced about female DJ’s will feature Hotwaxx as one of the main characters.


DJ John Collins

Raised on Motown, gospel, jazz and rock, John “Jammin’” Collins began flexing his music knowledge behind the decks in the mid-‘80s at Detroit club Cheeks alongside Jeff Mills, before being hired in the early ’90s as a mix show DJ at legendary local radio stations WJLB FM 98 and WDRQ 93.1. In addition to his veteran turntable skills, the linchpin of Detroit’s techno underground has reported on dance music for Billboard, held celebrated residencies in his hometown and abroad, and remains a producer, booking agent, manager and member of iconic techno disruptors Underground Resistance. He also runs the crew’s operational arm Submerge and conducts tours of its Exhibit 3000, the only techno museum in the world.


DJ Tom T

DJ Tom T has been a key player in the Detroit dance music scene for over 15 years. He’s headlined every premier venue in Detroit, and has played alongside some of the best DJ’s in the world including Bob Sinclair, Kaskade, Jazzy Jeff, Fedde Le Grand, and Morgan Page among others. He’s played at a myriad of clubs throughout the U.S. and Canada, and Tom’s International DJ performances have taken him to many exotic places like Dubai and India. With his label, Detox Recordings, he showcases his own music production alongside some of the best talent the birthplace of techno has to offer.


DJ WaxTax-N Dre

DJ WAXTAX-N DRE has been a resident DJ for the Hip Hop Station HOT 107.5 & the Adult Contemporary station KISS 105.9 for almost 20 years. He has DJ’ed all over the country and overseas. He has been hailed as one of the best DJ’s today, receiving numerous awards from record labels, radio stations, and his peers. WAXTAX-N DRE has the experience to play for all type of crowds. He has mixed up Hip-hop, R&B, Reggae, Booty, Bass, Pop, Old school, Hustle music, House, Techno, Trance, Disco, Blues and more. He has opened up for many Hip-Hop and R&B artists (Run DMC, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Ice Cube and many more) in addition to the Detroit Pistons and private parties for the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Shock. His mixes can also be heard on a regular basis in 42 cities as the DJ for the D.L. Hugley Show & Worldwide as guest DJ on Shady 45 (Eminem’s radio station).


DJ WHIP

Christopher Gaston, a.k.a. “DJ Whip”, is a veteran to the DJ game and he uses that to his advantage every time he’s on stage. Whip taught himself how to scratch by watching Beat Street as a child.  By the time he graduated from college, DJ Whip was spinning for the Source Magazine’s Unsigned Hype Tour in Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta and New York City. Known for his precise and fast scratches as well as his smooth mixes, Whip has spun at parties and has opened up for some of the biggest names in entertainment such as Dr. Dre, Diddy, Nas, Eminem, Lil Jon, Magic Johnson, Doug E. Fresh, and Maxwell, just to name a few. In 2006, he was chosen as one of the official Super Bowl DJ’s during Super Bowl XL, spinning at Detroit’s Ford Field. Whip isn’t just spinning records these days; he is now mixing music videos, adding a completely new and exciting element to his shows. His agreesive approach on the turntables and ability to cater to a crowd has made him one of the most respected DJ’s in Metro-Detroit.
